Police Creates Three New Policing Regions

The Uganda Police Forces has created three new policing regions around the country.

This website has learnt from that the newly created policing regions include Budongo, South Kyoga and Masaka North.

While Budongo region has its headquarters in Masindi, it comprises Masindi, Buliisa and Kiryandongo districts, carved out of the Albertine region.

The Albertine region takes control of Hoima, Kakumiro, Kagadi and Kikuube districts as well as Hoima City.

On the other side, South Kyoga region has its headquarters in Kumi and comprises Kumi, Bukedea, Ngora and Serere districts.

It has been carved out of East Kyoga region which now takes charge of Amuria, Kaberamaido,  Kapelebyong, Soroti and Katakwi districts as well as Soroti City.

For Masaka North region with headquarters in Lyantonde is carved out of the vast Greater Masaka region.

The districts under the new region include Lyantonde, Ssembabule and Bukomansimbi.

Greater Masaka policing region now takes charge of Masaka, Kalungu, Rakai, Kyotera and Lwengo districts as well as Masaka City.

The Nile Post has learnt that in the new issued transfer, three Regional Police Commanders and their deputies have been appointed to operationalise the new police regions.

“Take note and prepare to start work,” the newly appointed RPCs were told in a message.

The creation of the new policing regions is said to be aimed at extending services nearer the people.

The development takes the police regions to now 32 including Kampala Metropolitan East with headquarters at Jinja Road Police Station, Kampala Metropolitan North with headquarters at Kawempe Police Station, Kampala Metropolitan South with headquarters at Katwe Police Station , Albertine with headquarters in Hoima City, Aswa region headquartered in Gulu and Busoga East Police Region headquartered in Iganga.

On the other hand, Bukedi  North Region is headquartered in Budaka, Bukedi South in Bukedi, Busoga North in Kamuli district, Kiira region in Jinja, East Kyoga in Soroti, Elgon region in Mbale, Greater Bushenyi in Bushenyi, Greater Masaka region in Masaka City, Katonga region in Mpigi, Kidepo region in Kotido, Kigezi region in Kabale, Mount Moroto region headquartered in Moroto, North Kyoga region in Lira City, North West Nile in Moyo, Rwenzori East region in Kasese while Rwenzori West region is headquartered in Kabarole.

Rwizi region on the other hand is headquartered in Mbarara City, Savannah region has headquarters in Luweero, Ssezibwa region is headquartered in Lugazi, Sipi region in Kapchorwa, Wamale region in Mityana while West Nile region is headquartered in Arua City.
