Police in Luweero District have launched an investigation into the suspected murder of a 68-year-old man identified as Gideon Sitakange, whose decapitated body was discovered in his family graveyard at Kawe Village, Kyampogola Parish in Kikyusa Town Council.
According to a press statement released by ASP Sam Twiineamazima, the PRO Savannah region, the incident is believed to have occurred on Tuesday night.
Sitakange reportedly left his house to take a shower while his 11-year-old son was asleep.
Unfortunately, on Wednesday morning, the son woke up to the horrific discovery of his father's body in the family grave yard and immediately informed his uncle, the deceased's biological brother, who then reported the matter to the police.
In response, police examined the scene, confirming a case of suspected murder by cutting.
The press statement noted that Sitakange's head had been severed, and his body was found in a pool of blood.
Police recorded statements from the scene and deployed a canine unit, though without success in tracing a scent.
The deceased's body has since been transported to Luweero General Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Police stated that more inquiries are underway as they work to establish the circumstances surrounding Sitakange death and identify those responsible.
