Police Launch Investigation into Suspected Mob Killing in Sheema
Police in Sheema District have launched an investigation into the suspected mob killing of a 40-year-old man found with multiple injuries on a local farm. Authorities warn that mob justice is illegal and urge the public to report crimes through legal channels as the probe continues.

Police in Sheema District have launched a full-scale investigation into a suspected case of mob justice that claimed the life of 40-year-old Nuwagaba Nicholas, a resident of Rwenshama Cell, Kagango Division, Sheema Municipality.

According to Greater Bushenyi Regional Police Spokesperson SP Apollo Tayebwa, the deceased’s body was discovered early Tuesday morning, June 11, 2025, on a farm belonging to a man identified only as Kareman.

The body showed visible injuries on the head, hands, and legs, suggesting physical assault.

“The body was reportedly found by some women on their way to dig. They informed the deceased’s father, who then alerted Police,” said SP Tayebwa.

Police promptly responded, secured the scene, collected evidence, and transported the body to Kabwohe Health Centre IV for a post-mortem examination.

Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased was known locally for alleged involvement in theft. However, SP Tayebwa stressed that this did not justify mob justice.

“Regardless of the victim's past, mob action is illegal and unjustifiable. We are actively investigating to identify those responsible and will prosecute accordingly,” he said.

This incident highlights growing concerns over mob justice in the Greater Bushenyi region, prompting calls for community sensitization on the rule of law and respect for human rights.
