Two people arrested following a dramatic pre-dawn chase that led to the recovery of four stolen cows in Kaliro District.
The suspects, identified as Moses Bwambale, 21, a boda boda rider from Kamwanyi Zone in Gayaza, Wakiso District, and Living Muhwezi, 22, a driver from Kazinga along Gayaza Road, were apprehended in the early hours of Wednesday morning at Nabigere Village, Bugonza Parish, Namugongo Subcounty.
According to preliminary reports, the pair was intercepted at around 2:00 a.m. while driving a Land Cruiser Prado TX with registration number UBD 599U.
Authorities suspect the vehicle was being used to transport stolen livestock.
The incident was triggered by alert residents who noticed the vehicle suspiciously parked in a bushy area and suspected illegal activity.

Concerned about potential livestock theft, they promptly notified local security personnel.
A standby security team was immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the officers found the vehicle already on the move. When the suspects failed to comply with orders to stop, law enforcement engaged in a high-speed chase.
Warning shots were fired during the pursuit, which culminated in the suspects’ vehicle overturning.
Both individuals were arrested at the scene. Muhwezi sustained serious injuries in the crash and is currently receiving treatment at Bumanya Health Centre IV.
Police recovered four heads of cattle believed to have been stolen, and statements have been recorded from multiple witnesses, including the rightful owners of the animals.

The suspects are currently being held as inquiries continue, and they are expected to be formally charged upon conclusion of investigations.
