Murder Suspect’s Home Burned Down In Rukiga Retaliation Attack
The target of the attack, Denis Tumwijukye, is among four suspects arrested in connection with the April 15, 2025 murder of Christopher Atwebembere, also known as Sadam.

Police in Rukiga District are investigating a case of arson and malicious damage after the home and banana plantation of a murder suspect were torched by unknown individuals.

The attack took place on April 25, 2025, at around 10pm in Mahura cell, Nyakashebeya parish, Kashambya sub-county.

The target of the attack, Denis Tumwijukye, is among four suspects arrested in connection with the April 15, 2025 murder of Christopher Atwebembere, also known as Sadam.

According to Kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Maate, detectives had earlier visited Tumwijukye’s home with the suspects during a search operation, during which two plastic chairs with bloodstains were recovered.

"After the police detectives left the scene, relatives of the deceased attacked Tumwijukye's home, burning his house and slashing his banana plantation," Maate confirmed.

Officers from Rukiga Police Station, along with a team from the Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO), documented the destruction.

"No suspects have been arrested yet, and investigations are ongoing," Maate added.

The attack has raised tensions in the area, with police urging residents to refrain from acts of revenge as investigations into both the murder and the retaliation incident continue.
