Three men who allegedly posed as military officials attached to State House–Entebbe have been arrested by the Territorial Police at Bwera Division in Kasese District.

Godwin Byabagambi, 42, Richard Twesigye, 48, and Isaac Baluku, 47, were detained after they failed to produce credible identification or proof of their affiliation with State House.

Their arrest followed a suspicious encounter at Bwera Police Station.

“They failed to satisfactorily confirm their identity or their roles with State House. This prompted immediate action, and we placed them under custody,” said SP Tai Ramadan, the Bwera Division Police Commander.

The trio comes from different districts. Byabagambi, a Munyankole, resides in Milo 1, Mbarara City North Division. Twesigye, also a Munyankole, is from Nyaruhanga Cell in Ruhaama Sub-county, Ntungamo District.

Baluku, a Mukonzo, lives in Kabuyiri I Cell, Mpondwe Town Council, Kasese District.

Police impounded a vehicle, registration number UBK 573D, which the suspects had used.

A sharp knife and multiple stamps belonging to various companies were recovered from the vehicle, raising further concerns about the group's alleged activities.

They are now facing charges of impersonation.

According to authorities, a case file is being prepared for sanctioning, after which the suspects will be arraigned in court.

SP Nelson Tumushime, the Police Spokesperson for Kasese, called on the public to remain alert.

“We urge anyone who may have interacted with or been defrauded by these individuals to come forward and report to the nearest police station. Your information could be critical in securing justice,” he said.

Police say investigations are ongoing to determine whether the suspects belong to a larger criminal network.
