Five arrested over murder of Seeta High School teacher
Ivan Oloya, 30, a teacher at Seeta High School, Mbalala campus was killed on Saturday.

Police in Mukono have arrested five people over the murder of a teacher at Seeta High School.

Ivan Oloya, 30, a teacher at the Mbalala campus  was murdered in the at around 1:30am on Saturday in Bajjo Cell, Nyenje Ward, Goma Division.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango confirmed the murder.

“According to reports, Oloya left his workplace at Seeta High School and was heading home to Bajjo when he was attacked and killed near the gate of Code High School where his wife, Abbey Mercy works,” Onyango said.

He said following the murder, Police introduced canine units to the scene and led them to the arrest of five suspects.

Onyango named the suspects as Paul Kasumba Paul, 21, Simon Mabale, 23, Simon Lukoda, 18, Charles Kandole, 16 , all casual workers as well as Tom Kibuuka, 38, a mechanic.

“The body has been taken to Mulago for a postmortem examination,” Onyango said, adding that investigations are still ongoing to establish the motive behind the killing.

The development comes on the backdrop of a surge in attacks, especially in the areas of Mukono, Seeta and Namugongo.

The attacks are orchestrated by unknown assailants who use pavers to hit victims and later rob them.

At least two people have been reported dead under similar circumstances in the area in the past two weeks as assailants attacks members of the public walking at night.
