Third Alere SS Student Dies After Adjumani-Omi Road Crash

His death brings the total number of fatalities from the crash to three, all students of Alere Secondary School. The other deceased students have been identified as Godfrey Ingavure and Emmanuel Adibaku.

A student of Alere Secondary School, Emmanuel Dominic Anyovi, has died at Lacor Hospital in Gulu City after sustaining critical injuries in a road accident along the Adjumani-Omi road on Sunday evening.

The accident claimed two of Anyovi's colleagues on the spot.

Anyovi, a Level Two student under the Accelerated Education Program, was among the victims of a head-on collision involving a motorcycle and an oncoming vehicle, registration number UAQ 497J.

His death brings the total number of fatalities from the crash to three, all students of Alere Secondary School. The other deceased students have been identified as Godfrey Ingavure and Emmanuel Adibaku.

The North West Nile region Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police Ignatius Dragudu, confirmed that excessive speeding by both the motorcyclist and the driver of the oncoming vehicle contributed to the fatal crash.

"It's unfortunate that three students lost their lives in this accident. I strongly urge students to avoid reckless riding, especially due to football excitement, while drivers must also adhere to traffic rules and regulations," Dragudu said.

A recent police report shows that at least 26 people have died, while 71 others sustained severe and minor injuries in a series of road traffic accidents in Adjumani District over the past eight months.

According to police findings, the leading causes of these accidents include reckless driving, speeding, drunk driving, and disregard for road signs.
