According to police reports, Muzira was ambushed by gunmen travelling in a salon car. The assailants shot him in the chest and leg, killing him on the spot before fleeing the scene.

Unknown gunmen have shot dead a businessman in a road attack which occurred in Buwenge Town Council in Jinja District.

Peter Muzira, 34, was shot dead at a swamp bordering Luzinga and Buwenge Town Council, where the businessman, a resident of Luzinga Central Village in Kamuli District, was travelling as a passenger on a boda boda with two others.

According to police reports, Muzira was ambushed by gunmen travelling in a salon car. The assailants shot him in the chest and leg, killing him on the spot before fleeing the scene.

In a disturbing turn, the attackers stole his mobile phones, trousers, and even his underwear.

Kiira Region Police spokesperson James Mubi confirmed the incident, stating that the attackers made a swift escape after the killing.

Police have arrested two individuals—a female passenger who was traveling on the same boda boda as the deceased and the rider—both of whom are assisting with investigations at CPS Buwenge.

Their identities have been withheld for investigative reasons.

SSP Charles Nsaba, Kiira Region Police Commander, has ordered a joint security operation aimed at tracking down the attackers.

The Buwenge Police Station, led by Division Police Commander SP Oyee Morris, quickly responded to the scene, recovering key evidence, including four cartridges and a hood.

Regional CID SSP Monday Johnson Agaba assured the public and the victim's family that all possible leads are being followed.

"This was a brutal and calculated attack. We are pursuing every possible lead, and we strongly warn the assailants to surrender. Evading justice is only temporary," Agaba said.

Police continue to investigate the motive behind the killing and have called on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that could aid in the ongoing operation.

Authorities are urging anyone with credible information to come forward and assist in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
