Six senior officials from Ntungamo District, including the District Education Officer, school inspectors, and four head teachers, have been arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court on allegations of inflating student numbers to fraudulently obtain increased government capitation grants.

Their arrest followed a directive from First Lady and Minister of Education Janet Museveni, who instructed authorities to investigate and take action against those manipulating the education system for financial gain.

Investigators allege that the suspects falsified enrolment figures in several schools, leading to the misallocation of public funds intended for education.

The Anti-Corruption Court will determine the next steps as the prosecution presents its case.
