n Wednesday evening, her body was discovered in the school’s staff latrine locked under disturbing circumstances, raising fears of possible ritual sacrifice.
Graphic images of her injuries, which circulated widely on social media, have intensified public outrage and speculation.
Speaking at the funeral of Brig. Gen. Charles Oluka, Emorimor expressed his deep frustration over the murder and criticized the school’s administration for its failure to protect the child.
He accused some institutions of prioritizing financial gain over the safety of children and warned against the growing threat of child sacrifice in the region.
“This is one of the most disturbing incidents I have received since my childhood. It is so silly, it is ridiculous, an irony and a paradox in the land of Teso,” Emorimor stated in his emotional address.
The paramount chief called on the government to act swiftly, directly appealing to Vice President Rtd. Maj. Jessica Rose Alupo to ensure that security agencies conduct a thorough investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.
He further urged parents to be vigilant when enrolling their children in boarding schools, urging them to ensure that the institutions prioritize the safety and well-being of their students.
The tragedy has already begun affecting school attendance in the area, with reports of parents withdrawing their children from schools due to fear of similar incidents. Emorimor emphasized the need for urgent measures to restore trust and ensure that no more young lives are lost in such a horrific manner.
“We must stand together as a community to demand justice for Apio and prevent such inhumane acts from happening again,” he said.
The murder of Apio Joan Faith has sparked renewed calls for the government and local leaders to take firm action against child sacrifice, a crime that continues to instill fear in communities across Uganda.
As investigations continue, the people of Teso demand accountability and justice for Apio, hoping that her death will serve as a wake-up call to strengthen child protection measures in schools and beyond.
