In a decisive operation, the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) foiled a major terror plot planned by a group of individuals linked to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF).

The operation, conducted in multiple areas, including Kiganda, Mutundwe, Kazinga, Bwaise, and Nansana in Wakiso and Kawempe Districts, thwarted plans to destabilise the country.

UPDF First Division spokesperson, Maj Charles Kabona, revealed that the operation was launched after intelligence reports indicated the group was preparing for a series of attacks.

The ADF-linked individuals had been actively recruiting members and stockpiling materials for their plans.

The UPDF, in collaboration with other security agencies, carried out days of surveillance and intelligence gathering before pinpointing the group's hideout.

A surprise raid led to the arrest of several suspects and the recovery of a significant cache of crude weapons and explosives.

Maj . Kabona commended the professionalism and bravery of the soldiers involved, describing the operation as a testament to the UPDF’s unwavering commitment to protecting Uganda and its citizens.

The ADF, a notorious group with alleged links to international terrorist organisations, has been responsible for multiple attacks in Uganda over the years.

Their activities include recruitment, extortion, kidnapping, and murder. The group's disruption in this operation is a significant blow to their plans and a victory for the UPDF and the country.

The latest success adds to the UPDF’s series of operations targeting the ADF, which has severely curtailed the group’s ability to operate within Uganda.

The operation has been widely applauded by citizens and leaders across Uganda. Many have praised the UPDF for its precision and dedication to safeguarding the country.

The government also extended its gratitude to the force for neutralising a major threat to national security.

The UPDF has reassured the public of its ongoing commitment to countering terrorism and other security threats. Citizens have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

This successful operation underscores the UPDF’s role as a cornerstone in Uganda’s fight against terrorism and the protection of its sovereignty.

As security challenges persist, the UPDF remains steadfast in its mission to ensure the safety and stability of the nation.

The seizure of weapons and arrests of suspects mark a significant victory, further demonstrating Uganda’s resolve to combat terrorism and secure a peaceful future for its people.
