The two victims narrate their ordeal.

Two  businesswomen in Luwero District have  robbed of millions of shillings, numerous phones, and banking equipment during a violent home invasion.

The victims, Madinah Nakitanda and Shaluah Nanziri, both mobile money and phone dealers, were attacked at their residence in Kakookolo zone, Luwero Town Council, around 2:00am on Sunday.

According to Nakitanda, the assailants, armed with pangas, hammers, and sticks, forcibly entered the house and assaulted the them before stealing their valuables.

"We were attacked by a group of four thugs armed with pangas, hammers, and sticks, their faces were covered. They broke into the house demanding money, assaulted us, and out of fear, we surrendered. They stole Shs50 million, 30 smartphones, 50 button phones, and two agent banking tabs for Equity and Stanbic Bank," Nakitanda recounted.

Nakitanda explained that she had brought the valuables home for safekeeping after a previous break-in at their shop. The terrifying ordeal has left the victims shaken and fearful for their safety.

In a related incident, George Kizito, a welder from Kiyenje Village in Luwero Town Council, also fell victim to thieves on Saturday.

Kizito says that while attending church, his home was broken into, and over Shs5 million, a television set, and other home items were stolen.

He  had received Shs 4.5 million from a client as a deposit for materials to make doors and windows for a newly constructed house.

Due to the late hour, he had kept the money at home.

"On Saturday morning, I went to church, but after the first service at around 2:00 PM, my brother came back home and found the door wide open. When he entered, he found our TV taken and called me," Kizito lamented.

He rushed home only to discover that the money had been stolen,  reported the incident to Luwero Central Police Station, but officers initially declined to record his statement, citing a lack of a red pen.

"I found two officers at the reception, explained the incident to them, but they told me they didn't have a red pen and I should wait. All of them left the office. After about 40 minutes, another officer came, and I explained again, but he told me to wait for the officers I had initially spoken to," Kizito added.

Frustrated, Kizito left the police station and is now planning to secure a loan to fulfill his client's order.

The police spokesperson for  Savannah region ASP Sam Twineamaziima  confirmed both incidents and assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend the criminals.

However, he expressed disappointment in the officers' failure to record Kizito's statement due to the lack of a red pen, noting that this issue would also be investigated and appropriate actions taken.
