Police tracing boda thugs after another shocking street robbery

Police have started a manhunt for thugs moving on motorcycles who attacked an Indian businessman in broad-day light in Kampala.

Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire said the robbery captured on CCTV happened on Monday at around mid-day at Eso Corner in the city centre.

“ The victim, who has been identified as Mr. Joshi Keshav, a 32-year-old Indian national and tour and travel company operator based at Crown House, Kampala Road, reported the incident to the Nkrumah Road Police Station,” Owoyesigyire said.

In the incident captured on CCTV, the assailants in a group of about eight members moving on four motorcycles took advantage of traffic jam to attack the Indian businessman who was carrying a bag while moving on a boda boda and cornered him.

They would later beat and  grab his bag before speeding off.

“The stolen items include a laptop valued at shs2.2 million, cash amounting to shs 150,000, an Ecobank debit card, and keys. Mr. Keshav sustained only minor injuries,” Police said.

According to Owoyesigyire, a team of detectives has embarked on tracing the movements of the Indian businessman from the start of his journey to the crime scene to be able to arrest the suspects.

“ Numerous clues have been gathered to aid in the ongoing efforts to apprehend the suspects involved in this crime.”

The incident comes after several months after the flying kick assailants who terrorized the city and its surroundings seemed to have been defeated by police.
