Man jumps to death at Skyz Hotel

Police  in Kampala are investigating circumstances under which a man jumped to his death from the fourth floor of Skyz Hotel in Naguru.

Shukla Chiragkumar,  35, an  Indian national was pronounced dead at UMC Bukoto where he was rushed after the incident , police said.

“At approximately 12:30 am, it is alleged that the deceased fell from the fourth floor of the building in front of the hotel entrance, breaking his arm. He was promptly removed by hotel staff and rushed to UMC Bukoto, where he was pronounced dead,” Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire said.

He said preliminary investigations reveal that the deceased had checked into room 1402 with a yet to be identified lady with whom he spent the night.

The hotel proprietor and businessman, Patrick Bitature said the deceased was a first time customer at the hotel.

“ The concerned person was a first  time guest who checked in last night. We have no idea what triggered him to jump but suspect depression or mental illness. I just want to extend my sympathy and condolences to his family and friends," Bitature said.

He noted that there was no way the staff at the hotel could have diagnosed a problem like this .

Police said the deceased’s body has since been taken to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem a investigations into the death continue.

The incident comes three days after John Babirukamu, a prominent digital marketer jumped to death from his apartment in Kampala on Friday.
