Bukomansimbi businessman hacked to death outside home

A Bukomansimbi businessman Yusuf Kamuhanda was hacked to death outside his family home in Kisaaba Village in Kigangazi Town Council at the weekend.

The murder of Kamuhanda, 30, has shocked the village and raised fears of growing  insecurity in the area.

Reports indicate that Kamuhanda's body was discovered by his wife in the morning.

“I was going to the garden at around 8am when I stumbled on my husband's lifeless body in a pool of blood," said the wife, who refused to be named.

Kamuhanda’s wife told the Nile Post that her husband received a call on Friday evening from a person whose identity they could not immediately establish.

Kamuhanda prepared to go out, apparently to meet the caller - against her wife's insistence.

“I stopped him but he did not listen to me, he picked his motorcycle [and rode off into the night], but he did not return,” she said.

Kamuhanda was hacked on the head with a sharp object, Police said.

His motorcycle was found abandoned nearby.

Kigangazi mayor Yasin Kawuma issued a poignant plea to the community, urging heightened vigilance and calling upon law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts in clamping down on illicit activities, particularly within local drinking establishments.

Mzeei Eristo, father of the deceased, recalled his last interaction with his son, a bittersweet memory.

“I found my son yesterday in his garden spraying pesticides on his crops and he given me a very big bunch of bananas. Now he is no more,” he said.

Police have assured the village of swift action, with the Police region spokesperson Twaha Kasirye confirming the ongoing probe.
