Police to recruit 2500 probation constables

Uganda Police Force has announced a recruitment exercise in which they seek 2500 probation constables.

In an advert issued on Tuesday by the Human Resource Director, AIGP Brig Jesse Kamunanwire  the police said they will starting tomorrow, February, 7 until 18  be receiving applications from Ugandans between the ages of 18 and 23.

“The applicant must be a Ugandan citizen with a valid National ID, must have no criminal record. Should be ready to undertake the requisite 12  months police basic training and should be physically and medically fit,” the advert says.

According to AIGP Kamunanwire, the applicants should  be ready to work for long hours and at times under difficult conditions and in any part of the country but should also possess good communication skills.

Applicants must also not be a former or serving officer in any of the forces and must possess a senior four certificate or its equivalent with at least four credits including English and at least a pass in Mathematics.

“Hand written applications addressed to the IGP, accompanied by certified copies of academic documents, photocopy of the National Identity Card, three recent passport size photographs, identity card or introductory letter from the previous school and recommendation letters from LCI, LCIII and RDC (from the respective districts of recruitment) in file folder should be delivered to the Police district or  divisional headquarters not later than 18th February 2024,” the advert says.

Police however warns that impersonation or  presentation of forged documents shall lead to arrest and prosecution in courts of law.

“Applicants who conceal or provide false information shall be disqualified. Female candidates are encouraged to apply.”
