Court Denies Bail to Dr know nothing -Ssemanda Innocent
Buganda Road court has denied bail to Nyombi Ken, the man at the center of the high-profile Stolen Identity case. The accused, who faces charges under multiple aliases, reappeared before the magistrate as his defence team sought his release on bail.
The defense lawyer argued that Nyombi deserved bail due to extenuating circumstances, including the presence of sureties and the fact that he is the primary breadwinner for his family.
However, the state vehemently opposed the request, citing complications in verifying the accused's true identity. Investigations revealed glaring inconsistencies in his claims.
While Nyombi initially told investigators he resided in Kasangati Town Council, Wakiso District, it was later discovered that his wife had relocated from the area after his arrest, leaving his current residence unclear.
Doubts were also raised about the credibility of the sureties presented in court. Kiiza Bruno, one of the individuals claiming to be Nyombi’s neighbour, was contradicted by the local council chairman, who denied any knowledge of the accused’s presence in the area.
Magistrate Jatiko, in her ruling, concluded that the sureties provided were not substantial and denied bail. The case was adjourned to January 31, 2025, when the prosecution is expected to present its witnesses.
