A group of 19 people accused of  taking the law into their own hands and killed  four  suspects over boda boda robberies have appeared before court and charged with murder before the magistrate's court in Mukono.

The suspects were brought to court from Mukono police division custody under tight security .

Charges of murder were read against them for the killing of  Sanya Denis, Wafula Moses, Junior Masiga and Abdallah Ssemujju who were burnt  beyond recognition.

Trial magistrate, Peace Lamunu  told the group that they could not take plea since the case is capital in nature and only triable by the High Court.

They were consequently remanded to Luzira government prison until May, 2, 2024, save for a 16 year old minor who was sent to Naguru remand home.

Outside court, relatives of the accused  expressed  dissatisfaction with  Mukono police for arresting innocent people.

They said Mukono police officers acted unprofessional by arresting each and every one without doing thorough  investigations.

“They arrested over 40 people, many were released because they were able  to raise between Shs300,000 to 500,000 but those who failed to raise the money are those  in court," said one Sowed Lwanga.

Margaret Nakavubu, a leader in Mukono urged the police to work on the case of alleged CIM officer Kenneth Mugombesha and bring him to court as he is the main suspect in this case.
