Police in Tororo district are investigating circumstances under which a bus belonging to Busitema University hit a 26yr old plumber who died on the spot along Tororo - Busolwe road.
The incidence that happened on Tuesday evening involved a bus registration number UAJ420X and a motorcycle registration number UGA 896L.
The deceased has been identified as Aaron Matanda, a plumber by profession and resident of Mbale city.
According to Moses Mugwe, the Bukedi South police spokesperson, the bus driver and rider were all heading towards Tororo town from Nagongera town council direction.
He said upon reaching Morikiswa village, just next to Morikiswa technical school, the rider was knocked as he attempted to overtake the bus.
" The deceased was trying to overtake the bus at a speed and in process he hit contours along the road forcing him to fall off. Unfortunately, the behind tares of the bus smashed his head," Mugwe said.
Police responded to the scene and picked the body that was taken to Tororo hospital mortuary.
The bus driver has since been arrested to help in investigations.
Though investigations are still ongoing, preliminary findings so far suggests that the rider was over speeding by the time of the incidence.
