UAA Revives AdNites to Reconnect Uganda’s Advertising, Creative Industry

The Uganda Advertising Association (UAA) has officially revived AdNites, the industry's once-popular social and networking platform that served as a key meeting point for professionals across Uganda's advertising, media, and creative sectors.

Held at Shisa Nyama in Bugolobi, the return of AdNites attracted agency executives, creatives, media personalities, freelancers, industry veterans, and emerging professionals for an evening dedicated to networking, storytelling, music, dance, games, and professional engagement.

Speaking at the event, UAA Chairman Peter Kazibwe said the revival was driven by the need to reconnect an industry that thrives on relationships, creativity, collaboration, and shared experiences.

"Advertising is a people business. Some of the greatest ideas, partnerships, friendships, and collaborations in this industry have started in spaces exactly like these," Kazibwe said.

"We wanted to bring back a space where the industry can reconnect, share experiences, and build relationships beyond pitches and deadlines. AdNites are not just social gatherings; they are cultural spaces that help shape and strengthen the creative industry."

Kazibwe revealed that the association plans to make AdNites a quarterly event, evolving it into an inclusive platform that brings together agencies, freelancers, production houses, media owners, clients, and young creative talent.

Former UAA Chairman Muhereza Kyamutetera welcomed the return of the initiative, noting that AdNites previously played a significant role in fostering relationships and professional camaraderie within the industry.

"These spaces meant a great deal to the industry. Agency owners, creatives, media practitioners, clients, and young professionals interacted freely, creating friendships, trust, and business relationships that often extended beyond the workplace," Kyamutetera said.

"It is encouraging to see a new generation taking the lead in reviving this spirit."

Among the notable industry leaders in attendance was Nomad Advertising Group CEO Ariho Kamara, alongside a wide range of professionals from Uganda's advertising, media, marketing, and communications sectors.

According to the UAA, the revival of AdNites forms part of broader efforts to strengthen industry cohesion, promote mentorship, increase individual membership, and enhance engagement across Uganda's communications and advertising ecosystem.

The association believes the platform will not only provide opportunities for networking but also help nurture the next generation of creative professionals while reinforcing a sense of community within the industry.
