RwandAir’s newly launched triangular service linking Kigali, Zanzibar, and Mombasa is off to a strong operational start, with the airline reporting high early uptake just one week after the inaugural flights. The growth comes as RwandAir unveils two major festive-season fare promotions across its network.

RwandAir’s return to Mombasa and its introduction of Zanzibar as a new island destination is already paying off, with the Kigali–Zanzibar–Mombasa route recording encouraging passenger numbers in its first week of operation.

The service, operated four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, officially commenced with water salutes, ribbon-cutting ceremonies, and participation from aviation and tourism authorities in both Zanzibar and Mombasa.

This service is already demonstrating its potential to support tourism, regional integration, and seamless mobility across East Africa,” he said.

Airline officials say the new service enhances Kigali’s position as a key East African transit hub, making it easier for travellers to combine business and leisure itineraries.

Tourism partners in Zanzibar and Mombasa have also welcomed the added lift capacity into the two coastal destinations.

Caunhye added that the first week’s results reaffirmed the airline’s expectations for the route.

“The first week reinforces the demand we anticipated for a convenient link between these destinations. We are committed to building on this momentum and offering our customers even more value as they plan their travel across the region,” he said.

To capitalise on the route’s early success and stimulate holiday-season travel, RwandAir has announced two promotional offers available across its network.

The first is a network-wide seasonal fare discount, applicable to all RwandAir-operated routes for bookings made by December 31, 2025, for travel until March 31, 2026, using promo code MERRY25.

The second is a Christmas special targeting travellers across Africa. The promotion applies to outbound travel on December 25–26, 2025, with return travel scheduled between January 15 and March 31, 2026.

iscounted all-inclusive starting fares include $499 from East Africa (excluding Tanzania), $599 from Southern Africa, $699 from West Africa, and $799 from Tanzania to all destinations.

Tickets are available immediately and remain on sale until December 26, subject to availability.

RwandAir currently operates 13 aircraft and connects Africa to global destinations through direct flights and codeshare partnerships from its Kigali hub.
