Thaddeus Musoke Leaves Kacita, Launches New Traders Association

By | September 21, 2025

Thadeus Musoke has left his troubled position as chairperson of the Kampala City Traders Association (Kacita) and announced the formation of a new national umbrella organization, the National Entrepreneurs and Traders Association Uganda (Neta).

Speaking exclusively to Nile Post at his Mpoma School in Mukono District, Musoke said political bias within Kacita’s leadership played a key role in his decision to resign.

He explained that although he had consulted Kacita’s executive before joining active politics under the ruling NRM party, some members unfairly questioned his ability to serve impartially, arguing that his political affiliation could compromise the association’s interests.

“I have always put my political ideology aside to fight for traders. Some individuals wrongly judged me,” Musoke said, expressing disappointment in colleagues who criticized his leadership despite his longstanding voluntary service to Kacita.

After engaging with traders and entrepreneurs across the country, Musoke revealed he was encouraged to establish Neta, a new organization aimed at uniting traders and entrepreneurs under a single national platform.

He emphasized that Neta is not a rival to existing associations such as Kacita, but rather a collaborative partner.

“NETA will not fight with other associations, including Kacita. We will cooperate with all stakeholders to ensure traders have one voice to address the challenges they face,” Musoke said.

He further stated that Neta will work alongside government initiatives and development programs, not in opposition, but to enhance engagement between the state and the business community.

Musoke invited all traders and entrepreneurs who feel underrepresented or dissatisfied with existing platforms to join Neta, whose offices are now open at Old Kampala, St Matiya Mulumba Building.

Hajji Isa Ssekitto currently serves as the acting Kacita chairperson following Musoke’s suspension last month.
