Anadolu Ajansi’s 26th Term War Journalism Training Commences
The journalists will be trained by experienced and professional personnel in terror and terrorism, first aid, information security, psychology of war, media management in extraordinary situations, and survivor methods in regions of war and disaster.
ANKARA-TUKIYE | Anadolu Ajansi (AA), in partnership with the Turkish Police Academy and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TiKA), launched the start of the 26th term journalism training this Monday.
This training started on September 23 and runs until October 4where 25 journalists from across the globe will be equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to report from conflict zones of war and disaster safely and ethically.
The journalists will be trained by experienced and professional personnel in terror and terrorism, first aid, information security, psychology of war, media management in extraordinary situations, and survivor methods in regions of war and disaster.
Umar Busuulwa, the Programs Manager of Salam TV & Uganda’s representative in this training called upon different media houses to entertain such training as they are a benefit to the profession and protection of the lives of Journalists.
He ended by appreciating the friendly relationships between Uganda and Turkey that have led to many developments in the Country and the training of Journalists through TiKA which has been led by Mr Ömer Aykon in Uganda
Yahya Bostan, Anadolu's academy and publications coordinator, said that the previous trainings have benefited journalists across the world with over 558 journalists having gone through this training.
He sighted Mustafa Hassona, a photojournalist who received this training and has been covering the war in Gaza between Israel and Palestine.
He added that over 173 Journalists have unfortunately lost their lives the previous year while reporting in war and disaster zones thus the training will enable many journalists to learn how to keep safe while reporting in these areas.
Rahman Nurdun, TiKA's Vice President said that such programs are intended to train Journalists across the world in capacity building, humanitarian aid, peace, and national developments.
He added that “Journalism brings truth and responsibility”, thus they are willing to help journalists work in friendly environments, creating international friendship and solidarity with journalists in war and disaster zones
Fatih Inal, the deputy director of the Turkish Police Academy, said that this is among the few programs with a certificate award for war and disaster pieces of training encouraging many journalists to look out for it.
He added that hopefully what the journalists were to learn and be trained in never comes into action because wars and disasters bring about many problems to people like loss of lives and property.
