Uganda Airlines' Harare route to enhance ties, trade, says envoy
Uganda’s High Commissioner to Harare, Paul Amoru has described as a new chapter in the ties between Uganda and Zimbabwe, the start of direct flights by the national carrier to Harare.
“I am thrilled that our efforts to promote commercial and economic diplomacy as well as people to people contact between the two countries is taking this significant boost from Uganda airlines, with the unwavering support of the government of the Republic of Zimbabwe,” Amoru said at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport in Harare.

On Wednesday, Uganda Airlines launched direct flights to the Zimbabwean capital as its 16th route.
The national carrier will be flying between Entebbe, Lusaka and Harare four times a week.
Speaking during the launch of the flights, Ambassador Amoru said both countries have vast untapped opportunities that the new route will promote.
“Our two countries indeed have vast opportunities to enable our people to forge closer ties and promote the development of our countries through strengthening bilateral trade, tourism, academic and cultural exchanges, among others, between our two countries.”
He also applauded the presidents for the two nations for their commitment to work together to enhance ties and promote regional cooperation.
“The two Excellencies have proven to the whole world their avid passion for a common African agenda through their unwavering pan-Africanism without borders,” Amoru said.
He noted that the Uganda Airlines comes in at a pivotal moment when the two presidents have tasked officials from both countries to do their best to promote intra-African trade and cooperation.
“The Uganda airlines today has hearkened to this clarion call to provide that reliable and convenient highway for the two peoples of Zimbabwe and Uganda to reach out to each other and forge stronger bonds that will boost our trade, tourism, culture, religion, and academia among others.”
“Uganda and Zimbabwe have a lot that they can contribute to each other in ways that have no limits and of mutual benefits. We as a High Commission remain committed to facilitate these engagements by offering necessary consular and other support to boost the abundant opportunities that this launch of the Uganda airlines scheduled flights to Harare.”
