Stanbic Bank Uganda and partners under the Cooperate Society for safe motherhood have extended Christmas love to the medical workers at Kawempe National Referral Hospital.

The giveaways were in form of 600 hampers that were handed over to the Ministry of health and the hospital leadership, ahead of the festive season.

According to Anne Jjuuko, the Stanbic Bank Chief Executive, this initiative was done in a bid to appreciate the medical workers for the great work done especially in saving the lives of mothers.

She added that Stanbic Bank choose to specifically thank the frontline officers because they play a fundamental role which has in most cases gone unappreciated by several people.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Dr. Byaruhanga Emmanuel the Kawempe Hospital Executive Director notes that though the hospital has a lot of medical supplies for medical workers from government, there have also been cases of equipment breakdown that companies under the cooperate Society for safe motherhood have always supported through different donations.

He said Kawempe alone handles over 70 – 80 new deliveries on daily basis, making it the most congested facility in the country.

Byaruhanga added that the hospital is currently registering a significant reduction in mortality and neonatal deaths because of partners like Stanbic.
