“I am happy to be here and see that you are happy with Anita Among because, for me, I defend her when they are trying to kill her,” Museveni said, emphasizing his protective stance.
He further added, “If I don’t kill the ones who are pushing tribalism and sectarianism, why should I fight Among, those who are working for unity and the East African region?”
Museveni further praised Among for her exceptional mobilization and entrepreneurial skills, urging other leaders to emulate her example.
He highlighted the importance of unity and regional cooperation, qualities he attributes to Among's leadership.
He urged leaders to end 'unnecessary' rivalry and focus on promoting wealth creation among the electorate.
The president also declared an end to insecurity in Teso particularly cattle raids urging the community to focus on productivity.
Before addressing the crowd, President Museveni visited Among's country home in Kamutur, where he had a private engagement with the Speaker and her husband, Moses Magogo.
During the visit, Museveni toured Among’s cattle farm, which has grown to over 1,000 cattle from the 200 he had initially gifted her several years ago.
The president commended Among for her diligent stewardship of her resources, recognizing her as a model of effective management and growth.
The event underscored the strong ties between the executive and legislative branches in Uganda, with Speaker Among being a pivotal figure in maintaining this relationship.
Museveni's public support further solidifies Among's position as a key leader in the country's political landscape.
