BOOKS | There will always be more room in First Lady Janet Museveni's heart to fall in more love and the latest is with a book, The Heart Unrequited.

Mrs Museveni extoled praises on the writer, Beat Baingana Bisangwa, hailing her for standing out strongly to act as an example to adults in speaking out on modern dating and exploring aspirations and challenges of the early days of marriage in her book.

Politicians, family members and friends were all smiles at Kampala Serena Hotel as they awaited to witness the launch of the book last weekend.

First were words of acclamation from children, friends and family members to Ms Bisangwa for her commitment in driving marriage advice all enclosed in her book “The Heart Unrequited”

“I want to thank God for driving Beat to come out and shed light on modern dating and marriage in our communities all in her book, thank you for representing the adults,” Mrs Museveni said.

The Heart Unrequited is about the trials and triumphs of dating, finding a marriage partner and managing a young family.

Touching on the issue of gender roles and today's increasingly intricate youth issues, the book paints the story that is familiar with many a young couple today.

"As you know, my husband and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary only last year. As I read this book, I started feeling so sorry for Olivia as she started feeling the changes in her relationship with Okello," Mrs  Museveni said of the book she described as being "well-written".

"As she started the search for wisdom in all the various places, I empathized with her pain and wished she could just go to the place she chose to."

Drawing from the book, the First Lady turned into a relationship counsellor, urging married couples to embrace the spirit of faithfulness while living in the wedlock and to always be open to each other in times of difficulties.

"The mistake of giving up on life's partner is the biggest. Children are gifts of the two father and the mother," she said.

"Nothing should make one give up the struggle to ensure t problems and difficulties - if the two or even one of them is prepared to fight for their there is a chance that it may survive the test of time."

Mrs Museveni said she enjoyed reading the book that predicted it will impact so many married couples.

"It is a very well-written book, easy to read, and very interesting. It is a book that is diff down once you start reading it until you are through. In fact, this very morning, I comp my copy," she said
