Uganda is renowned for its incredible biodiversity, and birdwatchers from around the world are flocking to the country to experience its unparalleled avian beauty.
With over 1,080 bird species (which is about half of Africa's bird species and 11% of the world's), including the iconic Shoebill Stork and the stunning Grey Crowned Crane, Uganda's national bird, the country is a true birdwatcher's paradise.
A significant percentage of the bird species are endemic. Western Uganda, particularly in Murchison Falls, is excellent as you can often identify 400 species of birds.
From the serene wetlands of Mabamba Bay to the misty forests of Bwindi, Uganda's diverse landscapes offer a wealth of opportunities for bird enthusiasts to spot a wide range of species.
According to Lilly Ajarova, the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) CEO, Uganda is a haven for birdwatchers with an array of birdlife.

UTB is promoting Uganda's birdwatching tourism, highlighting the country's diverse landscapes, from the serene wetlands of Mabamba Bay to the misty forests of Bwindi.
As the peak season of tourism continues to take shape, Ajarova invited birdwatchers across the world to come and discover Uganda's beauty.
"There is a variety of avian beauty waiting to be discovered. Where will your binoculars take you next?" she questioned.
UTB has been on a journey of promoting Destination Uganda, particularly Uganda's birdwatching tourism, highlighting the country's diverse landscapes, from the serene wetlands of Mabamba Bay to the misty forests of Bwindi.
