PM Nabbanja asks Lwengo locals to embrace farming to boost incomes
Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has called upon the people of Lwengo to embrace farming as a pathway out of poverty.
The call for agricultural advancement was made as part of the National Farmer's Mobilization Tours, culminating in a visit to greater Masaka subregion.

"I urge all residents of Lwengo to consider farming not just as a way of life but as a robust economic activity that can transform livelihoods," Nabbanja emphasized during her address at Kaboyo Primary School playground.
The premier commenced her tour with a visit to St. Nicholas Milling Centre in Kyekulula, a government-donated facility aimed at bolstering local agricultural productivity.
She also inspected the farming operations at a farm, where a retired UPDF officer Francis Xavier Kyagulanyi showcased successful ventures in piggery and coffee cultivation across his forty-acre plot.
Reflecting on his journey, Kyagulanyi expressed no regrets in leaving military service for agriculture.
"I dropped the gun for a hoe, and today I am proud of the decision I made," he stated proudly. Every year I harvest 400 bags of coffee and each bag costs shs700,000 . That is shs 280 million and when I remove the expenditures I can remain with shs 200 million," Kyagulanyi stated.
Joined by Ministers Aisha Ssekindi, Haruna Kasolo, and local Members of Parliament under the leadership of Dr. Twaha Kagabo, the prime minister convened a public Baraza at Kaboyo Primary School playground.
The event featured various agricultural exhibitions, emphasizing government's push for rural communities to integrate into the formal economy.
Addressing attendees, Nabbanja reiterated the government's commitment to promoting agriculture as a sustainable livelihood.
"Farming holds the key to economic prosperity," she declared, underscoring the distribution of essential farming equipment including hand tractors, motorcycles, and livestock to aid in local wealth creation efforts.
The national farmer's mobilization tours, which aim to promote agriculture as a cornerstone of economic development, is set to continue with subsequent stops in Kyotera, Rakai, and Masaka districts, marking a pivotal moment in Uganda's agricultural development agenda.
