PostBank Uganda  has teamed up with Uganda Red Cross Society to extend humanitarian support to Kiteezi community, as part of the response efforts towards supporting the families that were affected by the collapse of the Kiteezi Landfill in Gayaza, Wakiso.

While handing over PostBank Uganda’s support to enable Uganda Red Cross with the humanitarian response, Martin Anioka, Chief Risk Officer at PostBank Uganda mentioned that since the bank is people centric , they ought to give back to the community especially in such a trying tiem.

“Through our Corporate Social Responsibility arm, we have joined efforts with Uganda Red Cross Society towards this humanitarian cause; by giving non food items including  mattresses and blankets to over 100 affected people and we hope this  token from PostBank Uganda and what has been extended by other partners will enable our people to gradually recuperate and get through this challenging time,"Anioka said.

To this, the bank handed over  items to over 100 affected people including mattresses and blankets to support the community as they navigate through the recent occurrence where some homes were destroyed by the collapse of the Kiteezi landfill.

Uganda Red Cross Society applauded the bank for giving a helping hand.

"We appreciate PostBank Uganda for the support extended to the people of Kiteezi, especially at such a time when they need everyone’s help. This will go a long way in helping the special groups, such as mothers and children who need these mattresses to sleep comfortably. We are in a rainy season, and people sleep on mats and tarpaulins. This donation has come in very handy," said John Cliff Wamala, URCS communications ffficer.

Anioka recognized the selflessness, and all efforts spearheaded by Uganda Red Cross Society to not only rescue the community in Kiteezi, but to team up with other authorities and individuals to enable the affected people to have relief as the rescue efforts continue.

“In line with our purpose, and ethos, we are on a journey to Grow and Prosper. All our undertakings are centered on community because we want our nation to thrive, so that all citizens grow and prosper at whatever level."

"As a Ugandan Bank, we stand with all the victims, their families, and the country at large. We condole with all the families who lost their loved ones and pray that all the souls of the deceased rest in peace. We have a spirit of overcoming as a country, and with all the people of Kiteezi, we will overcome this season, and together we will continue to grow and prosper as a nation."
