UNEB has said it is preparing to start marking this year’s Uganda Certificate of Education and Primary Leaving Examinations which were completed earlier this month.
A total of 798,771 candidates sat for PLE while 379,748 candidates sat for UCE exams at various centres around the country.
Giving an update on Monday, UNEB spokesperson, Jeniffer Kalule said a total of 7500 examiners have been contracted for the marking of PLE exams.
“Examiners who have been invited for PLE should report to their respective centres on November, 30 and those who haven’t yet received any community should crosscheck with the secretariat,” Kalule said.
She noted that the marking will be conducted at 13 centres.

Relatedly, the UNEB spokesperson said preparations are in final stages for the scoring of the pioneer candidates for the new lower secondary curriculum which will be done from 13 centres, two of which will also host examiners for the transitional examination.
“One centre has specifically been dedicated for the marking of the transitional examination. This makes a total of 14 centres, a reduction from 20 centres previously,” Kalule said.
She explained that under the new lower secondary curriculum, ,the subjects have reduced from 46 to 36 while the papers have also reduced from 126 to 69 which has also seen the number of examiners also reduce from the previous 12,000 to now 7000.
The UNEB spokesperson said senior examiners for UCE are expected to report on November, 30 to their respective coordinating centres while the rest of the examiners are expected to report on December, 6.
