Teachers arrested over sharing fake PLE papers plead guilty

The four teachers arrested by police over sharing fake Primary Leaving Examination papers have pleaded guilty.

Kevin Bakashaba, the director of studies at Kimongole Primary School, Vincent Muheeki, a teacher at Vision Primary School in Ibanda, Albert Pabeku, a teacher at Stone Rigdge Primary School in Kira in Wakiso district and Hosea Oyet a teacher at Dignitory Primary School in Rukungiri were arrested from various locations after allegedly creating a WhatsApp group where they were sharing fake PLE papers.

The quartet was on Tuesday arraigned before the Kira Magistrates Court and charges of unauthorized possession of examination materials or information contrary to section 25(1) of the UNEB Act 2021.

When answered to comment about the charge, they said they know it and  pleaded guilty .

In response, the state attorney, Josephine Apio asked the trial magistrate to adjourn the case to enable her organize the brief facts before presenting them to court.

Kira grade one magistrate, Ivan Sseguya remanded the quartet to Luzira government prison until Thursday.

Commenting about the matter, UNEB spokesperson, Jenifer Kalule Musamba warned other would-be offenders against being tempted to engage in exam malpractice.

She said the consequences of engaging in exam malpractice are dire, adding that UNEB will continue vigilance before, during and after the ongoing UCE exams and the upcoming PLE and UACE exams.
