NEC FC vs UPDF FC, MTN Omondi Stadium (7pm)
Pacesetters, NEC FC will seek to maintain their perfect start to the new season as they host UPDF in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League on Tuesday.
Coming into the game on six points, two above fourth placed UPDF FC who are their visitors today at the Philip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, NEC seek to open a five- point gap between them and their rivals.
NEC coach, Hussein Mbalangu says their good preparation has enabled them achieve so much in the new season.
“This is not by mistake. Because of our preparation( during preseason), this was expected. We had enough time to prepare the players ahead of the new season and prepared to take this good performance forward,” Mbalangu says.
NEC has beaten Vipers SC at home and Kitara FC away in their opening two games and according to Mbalangu, they wish to continue with this fine form, going into matchday three.
“Our strategy and game plan for this game( against UPDF) will not change. We know the game wont be easy since UPDF has also prepared well but we are going for all points since we are at home.”
On the other side, UPDF beat newcomers, Lugazi FC one nil and drew one all against Maroons in the first opening two games.
Head to head
Ahead of today's game, NEC and UPDF have faced off twice in last year’s Uganda Premier League season .
While NEC FC won 2 nil when they hosted UPDF, in the return leg, both teams played to a two-all draw in Bombo Barracks.
