A tragic accident in Soroti has claimed the life of a 7-year-old child and left another fighting for her life.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. in Opuyo Ward, Omalera A, about one kilometre from Soroti High School, formerly Rehema S.S.
ASP Obukulem Edison, Acting PRO for East Kyoga, confirmed in a media update that the victims, both 7-year-old pupils of St. Enock Nursery and Primary School, were struck by a taxi.
Eriku Jonathan died at the scene, while Vivian Akola was rushed to a medical facility in critical condition.
The taxi, a white Toyota Hiace with registration number UBH 305Z, fled the scene, and authorities are actively investigating the incident.
The driver remains at large.
