SC Villa part ways with coach Dusan Stojanovic
Uganda Premier League reigning champions, SC Villa have officially partied ways with head coach Dusan Stojanovic, the club has confirmed.
The decision to part ways was confirmed in a Saturday statement by the club chief executive, William Nkemba.
"Sports Club Villa has, today, mutually parted ways with its Head Coach, Dušan leaves with our sincerest appreciation for steering the Club through a very tough season to its 17th League Championship. The Club wishes him well in his next endeavours and thanks him for his service," Nkemba stated.
On the other hand, the record league champions confirmed that Morley Byekwaso will immediately take over as the interim head coach.
Stojanovic, guided the Jogoos to a record 17th league title last season, ending a 20-year trophy drought.
The 38-year-old Serbian tactician came on board in June last year, replacing Jackson Mugera who had been released by the club, a season earlier.
Stojanovic, leaves behind a historic mark at Villa, having won them a league title, less than a year into his tenure.
Villa were declared the title winners with 57 points, narrowly edging out BUL and Vipers, who both finished with 56 points.
