The Rotary Club of Kigo Seven Lakes Golf has donated scholastic materials worth shs20 million to Kigo Prisons Primary School as part of their ongoing interventions to improve the learning environment.
The donation included 400 books, school bags, sets and other essential materials aimed at supporting over 700 pupils at the school.
John Muchiri, the president of the Rotary Club, emphasized the club's commitment to sharing resources and addressing the needs of the community.
He revealed that the donation was part of a broader needs assessment conducted to ensure their interventions meet the school’s immediate and long-term needs.
“We believe in sharing what we have with others. This donation is part of our phased project to uplift the school’s standards, which include building a new classroom block with 14 rooms,” Muchiri explained.
Fatumah Musa, the headmistress of Kigo Prisons Primary School, expressed gratitude for the continued support from Rotary, highlighting the positive impact the materials and infrastructure improvements have had on the pupils.
“We thank Rotary for providing these scholastic materials to our pupils. Many of them lacked basic items needed for their education. This is not the first time they are helping us; they are also building a classroom block and have stocked our library with books," Musa said.
The school, which currently has over 700 pupils, has faced challenges in accessing quality learning materials and infrastructure.
The intervention by the Rotary Club is expected to enhance the learning experience and provide a more conducive environment for the pupils to excel.
This donation is part of the Rotary Club’s broader vision to improve education standards in the community, demonstrating the power of collective action in addressing key challenges in education.
