Power distributor UEDCL pulls down the board of directors’ page after social media backlash

Power distributor, Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL), has pulled down the page of the board of directors on their website following heavy backlash from the public accusing the company of favoritism, discriminating against women and tribalism while appointing members on the board.

A screenshot of a page obtained from the company’s website showed an all-male board of directors, with four out of six hailing from the same region. This got the public talking and cursing.

The six board of directors who appeared on the page included; Francis Tumuhierwe, Paul Mwesigwa, Godfrey Turahikwayo, Christopher Mugisha, Kalanguka Kayondho James Baanabe.

Following heated debates on the composition of the board, UEDCL pulled down the specific page on their website without giving a reason.
