The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Maj Gen Muzeyi Sabiiti has warned police officers who completed an intermediate command and staff course to reduce on time of sleeping during working hours.
Maj. Gen Sabiiti made remarks during the fourth pass out ceremony of the intermediate command and staff course at the Police Senior Command and Staff College in Bwebajja zone, Kajansi Town council, Wakiso district.
"Go out and work hard. Implement what you have been taught and avoid sleeping on the job because you are expected to work," Sabiiti said.
Sabiiti revealed that in August this year the installation of CCTV cameras in Kampala metropolitan region will be concluded and tasked the chief commandant of the school ACP Dr John Kamya to also train the operators who will in turn liaise with the officers in the field.
He said the knowledge that the police commanders have acquired will enable them solve problems while policing the public.
Dr Kamya noted that the course covered the police component and university components on peace building, human security and conflicts transformation to support and supplement the dynamics of policing amidst several challenges.
Among the senior police officers who graduated is ASP Richard Amaitum, the acting district commander of Napak; ASP Bernard Mugerwa (DPC Butaleja District) and Rogers Kiiza who was awarded the prize of for being the best student after exhibiting proficient academic skills.
The training took four months and it was attended 45 participants including four female officers.
The senior police officers are supposed to foster professionalism among police officers by equipping them with intellectual and practical skills that require securing life, rights, property and dignity of the public they serve.
