The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has set up an online career zone to help students from different universities across the country to login and identify different mentors who will provide them with practical career guidance.
According to Richard Byarugaba, the NSSF managing director, the job market has been disrupted by technology and until students are guided on the rightful skills to pursue, many of them may end up with irrelevant skills.
Artificial intelligence is progressively being embraced and employers are devising means to cut costs where possible replacing human labour with technology.
Byarugaba, speaking during the NSSF Career Expo at Makerere University Business School (MUBS), said due to these changes, students must be helped to know which career path will remain relevant amidst this technological disruption.
He said it is against this background that the Fund has come up with an online career zone to help students find mentors who will not only help them to identify themselves but to pursue relevant careers.
This was the 8th career expo and according to NSSF, it will run across different universities in the country.
