Thousands of residents from across Mbale District turned up at Nakaloke Grounds on Saturday, June 6, 2026, for a thanksgiving ceremony hosted by Mbale Northern Division Member of Parliament Umar Nangoli to celebrate his election to Parliament.
The event attracted a large crowd of constituents, religious leaders, politicians, security officials, and public servants who gathered to congratulate the legislator and reflect on the role of leadership in advancing community development.
The guest of honour was Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje, who urged leaders in the Bugisu region to embrace unity as a prerequisite for sustainable development. He called on Members of Parliament and other leaders to focus on improving service delivery and addressing the needs of their communities.
The Mufti also commended President Museveni for government initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods, particularly the Parish Development Model, which he said is helping to reduce poverty and empower citizens economically.
Also in attendance was John Nandah, who appealed to residents to remain united and work together for the social and economic transformation of their communities.
Speaking during the celebrations, Nangoli thanked voters in Mbale Northern Division for the confidence they placed in him during the elections, pledging to continue serving their interests in Parliament.
The thanksgiving ceremony brought together a cross-section of leaders and residents and was among the largest public gatherings held at Nakaloke Grounds this year.
