Ugandan hip-hop star and record producer Navio, born Daniel Lubwama Kigozi, has pledged to encourage fellow artists in Uganda and around the world to visit the Ma'di Sub-region after spending three days at Arra Fishing Lodge in Pachara Sub-county, Adjumani District.
Navio and his team were in the district to film the music video for his latest song, GODLVL, at various locations across Adjumani. During his stay, the celebrated rapper toured several parts of the district and expressed admiration for the area's natural beauty and untapped tourism potential.
Speaking in an interview, Navio described the Ma'di Sub-region and the wider West Nile region as a hidden tourism gem endowed with breathtaking scenery, rich culture and unique attractions.
"I have had an amazing experience here in Adjumani. The landscapes are beautiful, the people are welcoming, and the views along the River Nile are simply spectacular," Navio said.
He added: "Many people do not know what this region has to offer. I will encourage fellow artists and visitors from Uganda and across the world to come and experience the beauty of the Ma'di Sub-region for themselves."
The rapper noted that the region possesses enormous potential to attract both domestic and international tourists if its natural attractions are effectively promoted and marketed.
Navio's visit has generated excitement among local leaders and tourism stakeholders, who believe endorsements from influential personalities can help position the region among Uganda's emerging tourism destinations.
Dr. Jimmy Opigo, proprietor of Arra Fishing Lodge, welcomed Navio's commitment to promoting the area and called on Ugandans to embrace domestic tourism.
"We are honoured to host Navio and his team at Arra Fishing Lodge. His visit demonstrates that the Ma'di Sub-region has the capacity to attract high-profile visitors and tourists," Dr. Opigo said.
He noted that the region is blessed with numerous natural attractions, rich cultural heritage and stunning scenery along the River Nile.
"I encourage Ugandans to visit and discover the beauty that exists in this region. Domestic tourism is important because it supports local communities and helps unlock the economic potential of our tourism resources," he added.
Tourism stakeholders are optimistic that the publicity generated by Navio's visit, coupled with the release of the forthcoming GODLVL music video, will inspire more visitors to explore Adjumani District and the wider Ma'di Sub-region.
They believe the exposure could significantly contribute to promoting the area's tourism potential while supporting local businesses and community livelihoods.
