Youth living near President Museveni’s Kisozi farm in Gomba District have complained of exclusion and limited access to the Head of State, saying outsiders benefit from opportunities while locals remain sidelined.

Museveni’s farm in Kisozi, Gomba District, have expressed frustration over what they describe as neglect and limited access to a leader they consider their close neighbour.

The youth, drawn from areas including Kisozi, Kajumiro, Kirasi and surrounding villages, say they are disappointed that visitors from distant places are often granted opportunities to meet the President during his visits, while they themselves remain excluded.

Led by Paul Lutamaguzi Bogere, chairperson of the Greater Kisozi youth association, the group said unemployment and poverty remain widespread among local young people despite living near the President’s farm.

“Whenever President Museveni comes here, we see different people arriving to meet him… yet we, his immediate neighbours, cannot even access the gate,” the youth said.

They said many of them were born and raised in Gomba while the President was already settled in the area, adding that they grew up around his farm and observed livestock activities in the community.

“President Museveni did not relocate to Gomba yesterday. We were born here and grew up seeing his farm… but that is as far as it goes,” they added.

The group also said that while the President has previously spoken about supporting communities around Kisozi, such assistance has not directly benefited the current generation of youth.

“We are not denying that assistance may have been given before, but whatever support was extended benefited our parents, not us the youth,” they said.

They further accused authorities of prioritising external visitors over local residents, citing a recent visit by TikTok content creators to Kisozi during which local youth were allegedly blocked by security personnel from accessing the area near the President’s residence.

“One would think that because we live in Kisozi we can easily see the President whenever we want, but that is not true,” they said.

The youth have now called for a dedicated meeting with the President to present their concerns directly, arguing that they continue to face unemployment and lack of opportunities despite living close to his home.

They also highlighted broader challenges in Gomba District, including inadequate healthcare services, lack of ambulances and limited youth support programmes.

“We ask the President to spare some time for us, the youth of Greater Kisozi, so that he can listen to our challenges,” they said.
