Preparations for the Buganda Bumu European Convention 2026 are progressing steadily, organizers have confirmed, following a high-level coordination meeting with the leadership of the Buganda Kingdom.
The Chairperson of the Organising Committee and Deputy Representative of the Kabaka to the Rhinelands, Linda Ssekayita, led committee members in a strategic meeting with the Minister in charge of Buganda Affairs Abroad and Royal Visits, Joseph Kawuki.
During the session, the delegation briefed the Minister on milestones already achieved and outlined remaining tasks, aiming to ensure all preparations are completed well in advance of the convention, which is scheduled for August 2026.
Mr. Kawuki emphasized the need to maintain the dignity, unity, and cultural pride of the Buganda Kingdom in all convention activities.
“The Buganda Bumu European Convention is an important platform for uniting Baganda in the diaspora and showcasing the values, culture, and integrity of the Kingdom. Proper planning and close consultation are therefore essential,” he said.
The Minister commended the organizing committee for the solid groundwork already laid and for consulting Mengo to strengthen coordination and excellence in delivery.
Senior Kingdom representatives and officials who attended the meeting included Samuel Ssekajugo Musoke, the Representative of the Kabaka to the Rhinelands; Mugenyi Nelson, the Representative to Sweden and Scandinavia; Frank Kyambadde from Germany; Robert Ssamula, Coordinator for Buganda Affairs Abroad; and members of the Organising Committee, including the Committee Secretary.
The convention, to be held in Berlin, Germany, will bring together Baganda from across Europe and beyond for cultural engagement, development dialogue, and unity-strengthening activities within the diaspora.
Organizers reaffirmed their commitment to delivering a well-coordinated and dignified convention that upholds the image, values, and heritage of Buganda.
