YOTV proprietor, Aggrey Mugisha remanded over shs264m NSSF arrears

Aggrey Mugisha, the director of Al Bayan Media Limited the parent company of YOTV Channels has been remanded to Luzira prison  over failure to pay more than Shs260 million for his staff contribution to the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).

Mugisha was on Tuesday arraigned before Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court and six charges related to failure To remit NSSF contributions contrary to sections 11(1) & 44(2) of the NSSF Act read against him.

He however denied the charges.

Whereas Mugisha asked court for bail, Chief Magistrate, Ronald Kayizzi declined the request saying he is only sitting in for Winnie Nankya who is the trial magistrate.

He was remanded .

Prosecution alleges that Mugisha, being the director of an eligible employer in Al Bayan Media Limited, during the month of January to December 2021 and January –December 2022 failed to remit social security fund totaling to about Shs264million.

The state prosecutor told  court that Mugisha had on numerous occasions defied criminal summons that required him to appear in court to answer his charges until a warrant of arrest was issued on July 19, 2024.
