Police are holding John Francis Niwagaba; a prisons warder attached to Masaka Central Prison to aid investigations into the escape of two prime suspects in the infamous Bukomansimbi murders.
The suspects; Musa Galiwango and Mohammad Kiddawalime escaped from Masaka chief magistrate's courtroom where they had been presented for the mention of their case before committal to the High Court.
But the duo suddenly jumped through courtroom windows before running past the unsuspecting security personnel as they headed towards Kkumbu forest reserve, in Kimanya-Kyabakuza division.

Lameck Kigozi, the greater Masaka regional Police spokesperson says the prison warder who was directly charged with the security of the suspects has been detained to explain how he failed to apprehend the two suspected criminals, even when he was seated next to the suspects' dock at the time of the escape.
Kigozi adds that Niwagaba is facing charges of neglect of duty and aiding suspects to escape from lawful custody.
Sources at Masaka High Court indicate that there were at least six prison warders at the station at the time of the incident. They had all been deployed to watch over the suspects.
Muhammad Kateregga, the Bukomansimbi district chairperson has equally blamed the Police authorities for not keeping a close eye on such notorious suspects who had dodged arrest for over two years.
He is afraid that their escape may endanger the security of the community and the safety of the persons who aided their arrest. shortly after their arrest by the Police flying squad, the duo recorded prejudicial statements confessing to having participated in grievous criminalities in the greater Masaka Subregion.
