Nkobazambogo Commended for Fostering Unity, Discipline, Cultural Identity Among Youth

The comments were made during the launch of Nkobazambogo's new book titled Abakondeere at IUIU.

The Igara East Member of Parliament , Michael Mawanda who also doubles as the Patriotic League of Uganda(PLU) director mobilization has hailed Baganda Nkobazambogo association for  its role in fostering unity, discipline, and cultural identity among youth in higher institutions of learning.

“It is commendable to see young people taking charge, honoring their heritage while also contributing intellectually through initiatives like this book launch,” Mawanda said, before commending the association for innovation that has enabled them to author a book.

He was speaking during the launch of the association's book, Abakondeere at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), Mbale campus.

Abakondeere, a publication rich in cultural heritage and historical insight, was unveiled in the presence of esteemed guests, members of the university community, and representatives from various institutions across Uganda and the book is expected to contribute significantly to the preservation and appreciation of Baganda traditions and values.

Mawanda further emphasized the importance of patriotism, cultural preservation, and leadership rooted in moral values.

The handover saw the outgoing leadership officially pass on responsibilities to the new executive, ushering in a fresh era of stewardship.

The ceremony highlighted the group's achievements over the past year and outlined the vision for the future, with calls for continued collaboration and engagement among students, institutions, and the broader Baganda community.

Dignitaries, cultural leaders, student representatives, and members of sister institutions were in attendance, making the ceremony not only a campus event but a national gathering celebrating culture, education, and youth leadership.

On the same day the association leaders 2024/25 handed over power to newly elected leaders as a sign of constitutionalism and peaceful transition and this process was witnessed by Michael Mawanda.

“We therefore call upon all Baganda students to participate in all cultural activities since it is the culture that defines us. Long live the King,” Mawanda said.

The handover ceremony saw the association chairperson, Idrisa Kazibwe pass on the leadership  to Uthman Kyeyune .

“The handover was a peaceful one, marking a significant milestone in the organization's history. The event was a vibrant showcase of the rich Kiganda culture, with attendees dressed in traditional attire, highlighting the importance of preserving cultural heritage,”  Kyeyune  said.

The new chairman of Nkobazambogo Edirisa Kazibwe commended their well-wishers.

“We were so delightedly humbled and special thanks to our well-wishers and supporters Minister Alhajj Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo and Dr. Aisha Kasolo who have financially supported us within the journey.”
