Mityana: Police hunt for men who defiled, killed 6-year-old

The six year old was allegedly defiled before being killed.
Police in Mityana have kicked off investigations into circumstances under which a six year old was defiled and later killed by unknown assailants.
According to Wamala region police spokesperson, Superintendent of Police, Racheal Kawala, the incident happened on December 31 in Zigoti East Cell, Zigoti town council in Mityana district when Irene Nabbosa Nakiyingi, a six year old female pupil at Sonko Joy primary school was killed.

“It is alleged that the deceased left her parents’ home in Zigoti East at about 5pm on 31/12/2024 to take mangoes to her teacher at Sonko Joy primary school in Zigoti town council but she never returned. The parents of the victim mounted a search but all in vain,” Kawala said.
She noted that the following day, a case of disappearance was reported at Zigoti police station and police officers mounted a search.
“Unfortunately at about 4pm, the body of the victim was found lying lifeless, half naked in a cassava garden in the neighborhood.”
The Wamala region police spokesperson said they suspect the deceased could have been defiled before being killed.
She added that one suspect, Lawrence Ssenjobe, 32, has been arrested to help in investigations while the deceased’s body has been taken to Mityana hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
“Parents and guardians are advised to be extra cautious about safety of their children and to always keep track of the whereabouts of their children during this school holiday.”
