Tian Tang Group and Sino Uganda Mbale Industrial Park have donated relief items worth shs50 million to families affected by fire in the Karamoja region.

The fire, which ravaged Nakobekobe village in Nabiratuk District, left 26 families homeless.

On Tuesday, officials from Tian Tang and Sino Mbale Industrial Park donated crucial relief items including maize flour, mattresses, sugar, cooking oil, footballs, school bags, television sets, and a motorcycle to the affected communities.

The items were handed over to Fr. Clement Otim, the parish priest of Nabilatuk Parish Church, to support the affected community.

During their visit, the Tian Tang Group team also toured St. Theresa Acegeretolim, where they pledged additional support to bolster the local community’s welfare. The delegation further visited Nabiratuk Health Centre IV, promising to provide aid to improve healthcare services in the area.

“We are committed to supporting the Karamajong community and helping them recover from this devastating fire,” said Paul Zhang, chairman of Tian Tang Group, who led the delegation.

Speaking during the function, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Jane Frances Abodo, who also hails from Karamoja hailed the company for offering a helping hand.

“Every year, people die here due to poverty and lack of resources,” Abodo said. “I’m so happy to see someone coming to share their kindness with us.”

Local leaders described the donation as vital for the fire victims’ recovery.

“We are grateful for the support from Tian Tang Group,” said Lokiru Emmanuel, a community leader. “This donation will go a long way in helping our people recover from this disaster.”

Tian Tang Group has been operating in Uganda for several years and has engaged in various corporate social responsibility initiatives, including supporting education and health programs.

“Tian Tang Group is committed to giving back to the community,” Zhang said. “We believe it is our responsibility to support the communities in which we operate.”

The donation is part of broader relief efforts aimed at addressing the humanitarian challenges in Karamoja and improving the livelihoods of its vulnerable populations.
