Five dead in three accidents in Hoima , Kikuube

Police has confirmed five people died in the three accidents that happened in  Hoima and Kikuube Districts.

The Albertine region police spokesperson Julius Hakiza said  three people died in an accident that occurred in Kyarusesha village in Kikuube District on Monday morning where a Toyota Wish number UBJ 774H had a head on collision with a motorcycle number UFW 809U.

According to police, the  Toyota Wish was involved in a head-on collision with a Bajaj motorcycle.

The vehicle driver Twinomujuni Nyansio  and  Bahati Walle,  a passenger in the vehicle as well as  Munyesure Ethien the motorcycle driver died on the spot.

" The wish driver who was from Butole side heading to Hoima went out of his lane and lost control. The car overturned colliding with the Bajaj rider . Our officers visited the scene and the bodies of the car occupants have been handed to their relatives  while Munyesure's  body was taken to Kikuube health centre IV mortuary for postmortem and later  be handed over to the relatives once identified," Hakiza said

Relatedly police is investigating an accident that happened on Sunday  at 5:30 pm  a long Kajogo Kiswaza Muntebe Kiziranfumbi in Kikuube District  involving a tractor Mahindra UBN 755Q where one person identified as Kenneth,  a sugar cane cutter fell off the tractor and died instantly.

"This is the second incident in a space of one week where sugar cane cutters are falling off the Hoima sugar tractors and losing lives.We are working with Hoima sugar to sensitive drivers to be careful while driving  but also people should stop climbing on tractors that seem not safe,"Hakiza said.

He noted that the driver of the tractor is currently on the run while the deceased's body has been taken to Kikuube health centre IV.

In another incident in Hoima, a motorcycle rider lost his life when a car knocked him in an accident that happened at around 2am.

"The accident happened at Cadam opposite KCB bank a long Hoima Buliisa main Street ,"Hakiza said.

Now police has cautioned road users to be careful while on the road saying like usual most of these accidents have been out of reckless driving, saying they are going to embarck on sensitizing messages on medias.

Away from accidents, police in Masindi is investigating circumstances under which a one Birungi Sarah aged 23,  a sex worker was found dead in her room at Desert guest house in Masindi.

"We were invited at Desert guest house about the death of a person who we later identified as Birungi Sarah. Her body was picked and taken to Masindi hospital mortuary for postmortem as investigations continue.We call upon people to be careful especially those in the activity of sex work,"  Hakiza said.
